According to data from the digital travel platform Agoda, since July 2024, Danang has ranked among the top five most-searched cities by North American travellers. In January, it became the most-searched destination among US visitors, surpassing Tokyo and Bangkok, with a staggering 1,538 percent year-on-year increase.
In 2024, Danang was the vacation destination for American billionaire Bill Gates. During his stay, he and his girlfriend explored the Son Tra Peninsula, took panoramic city views from Ban Co Peak, and played tennis at a luxury resort.
The Danang Department of Tourism said billionaire Bill Gates' visit is a promising sign for the local tourism industry, which is looking to attract high-end holidaymakers.
