The event will feature various activities such as gong performances, folk dances, weaving, sculpture carving, traditional musical instrument crafting, and the recreation of the New Rice Festival. There will also be a competition to conquer Chu Dang Ya Volcano and the 2024 Half Marathon.
Currently, Pleiku Airport in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai serves only 12 flights in and out daily, carrying some 2,500 passengers. Six of these are from HCM City and Hanoi. Therefore, local authorities have asked Vietnam Airlines to conduct more flights from HCM City and Hanoi to Gia Lai to meet the higher demand as the Wild Sunflower—Chu Dang Ya Volcano Week is nearing.
The Gia Lai People's Committee said that Chu Dang Ya Volcano was recognised as one of the ten most beautiful volcanic craters in the world by a British magazine in 2018. The volcano associated with the image of wild sunflowers is listed among the 10 most attractive destinations in Gia Lai by the Vietnam Record Organisation (Vietking).
