Traders put up their small stalls right on the streets while leaving some space between for travellers.
Hang Be Market was famous for its variety of food which were carefully selected to serve the local residents who were known as good connoisseurs.
Besides fresh meat, vegetables and fruits, Hang Be Market was also famous for a variety of high-quality dried and prepared food.
In 2010, Hang Be Market was moved into an indoor facility on Vong Ha Street to leave the space for the busy Cau Go and Gia Ngu streets.
While the new Hang Be Market has seen few customers, traders living around the old market continue to serve a large number of people at their street-side houses. Photo taken in 2009.
