Over the past month, the street has come alive with many Tet plants and flowers, including vibrant peach blossoms, golden kumquat trees, elegant orchid baskets and roses.

The highlight of the market is luxurious orchid pots and baskets, sold for several hundred thousand to a few million Vietnamese dong.

According to Huong, the owner of four orchid shops on Hoang Hoa Tham Street, she has imported 100,000 orchid plants for Tet, with an average price of VND250,000 each.

Customers can select the flower type, colour, and quantity for the shop to arrange into bespoke pots. For instance, a pot containing five orchids costs around VND1.5 million.

Huong mentioned that many Hoang Hoa Tham Street vendors sell Chinese orchids at lower prices. However, these orchids have smaller blooms, fade quickly, and are of lower quality than Da Lat orchids.

Mini kumquat pots cost between VND100,000 and 300,000, while high-end bonsai trees or premium orchid pots can cost up to tens of millions of VND.
