Dak Lak Province, with its 200,000 hectares of coffee plantations, contributes 35 percent of the Central Highlands region's total coffee-growing area.
In spring, coffee trees are in full bloom. Local farmers usually adjust their blooming time by watering. Between January and April, Dak Lak farmers usually water the trees three times, resulting in three flowering phases, each lasting from one week to ten days.
The climate variations may also influence the blooming period of the coffee flowers.
A Thai Thi Hai farmer said her family grows one hectare of coffee trees.
"We watered the trees a week before the Tet Lunar New Year Festival, and so we had many blossoms during the Tet holiday," Hai said, adding that the coffee blooming season is attracting many tourists to Dak Lak.
The farmers can tell the harvesting output by watching the number of flowers.
The blooming coffee flowers also mark the season for producing coffee flower honey.
