Of the total investment, VND3.05 trillion will be sourced from the state budget, and VEC will raise the remainder.
The Yen Bai-Lao Cai section stretches 121 kilometres, 40 of which have already been expanded to four lanes. The remaining two-lane stretch continues to pose risks of traffic congestion and safety concerns.
Meanwhile, under the national road network planning for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the entire Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway will be upgraded to six lanes.
VEC invested in and operated the 245-kilometre Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway. Toll collections to recoup the investment started in 2014.
