The report has been released by the US Embassy in Vietnam after the recent visit to Vietnam by US President Donald Trump.
Up to 68% of Vietnamese students in the US studied at university; 15.6% followed post-graduate courses; 7.4% attended courses without being provided with degrees.
The report, however, excluded the number of Vietnamese pupils at high schools in the US.
The report also said that Vietnam has become a popular destination for American students. In the 2016 - 2017 school year, Vietnam welcomed 1,012 US students, up 9.8% from the year earlier.
Currently, international students account for 5.3% of the total student number in the US. Business and technology are among the most favourite majors of foreigners students in the US.
