As of July 1, local time, the Vietnamese rescue mission operating in Playa Grande, La Guaira State, had identified 16 locations where victims were believed to be trapped beneath the rubble.

The team carried out recovery operations at nine of those sites, successfully retrieving victims' bodies and bringing the total number recovered by the Vietnamese mission to 23.

The remaining seven locations were handed over to local authorities and other rescue teams for further operations.

Vietnam's humanitarian mission to Venezuela consists of 124 personnel drawn from the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam People's Public Security forces.

The deployment marks the third time the two forces have jointly sent personnel and specialised equipment overseas to support international humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.

Playa Grande is among the areas most severely affected by the recent earthquake, with widespread building collapses and unstable structures posing significant risks to rescuers.

Search operations have been conducted amid difficult conditions, including extreme heat, high humidity and periods of heavy rain. Despite the hazardous environment, the Vietnamese team has continued working alongside Venezuelan authorities and international rescue teams.

Under the operational plan, personnel from the military and police have been divided into separate task groups, using search dogs, specialised detection equipment, technical search devices and engineering and medical units to examine each affected site.

The Vietnamese team has also expanded its search efforts to surrounding areas after receiving requests from relatives seeking assistance in locating missing family members.
