The association said that it has set a target to raise productivity to 4-4.25 billion litres of beer, 8.3-9.2 billion litres of beverages and 360 million litres of spirits in 2020.

Earlier in mid-2015, the VBA released a report showing that Vietnam ranked the fifth in Asia in terms of beer consumption, just behind Japan, South Korea, Thailand and China. Meanwhile, per capita income of Vietnam is much lower than that of these countries.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Health, average beer consumption globally has almost stayed the same over the past 10 years, while doubling in Vietnam.

Vietnam’s beer consumption was estimated at 6.6 litres per person a year in 2010 compared to just 3.8 litres between 2003 and 2005. The figure is expected at 7 litres by 2025.
