In the first months of this year, recruitment company Navigos Group witnessed a decrease in demand for recruiting personnel in many industries, including IT.
Nguyen Thi Thu Giang, senior team manager at Navigos Search Hanoi, said demand for IT recruitment soared in the last three years thanks to the boom in e-commerce.
But in recent months, e-commerce has shown signs of slowing down due to economic downturn and inflation, affecting the recruitment for IT staff, she added.
However, businesses developing software or technology solutions are hardly affected by the recent decline in recruitment demand, according to a report by Navigos Search
Giang said the IT labour market has still been struggling with a shortage of qualified personnel to meet Vietnam's digital transformation goals.
Some banks have continued to recruit IT personnel to expand digital centres.
The number of IT graduates each year is more than 50,000, but only about 30 percent of them can meet recruitment requirements.
There are still opportunities for qualified personnel who are equipped with soft skills and foreign languages.
