Vietnam cancels flights and trains as Typhoon Kajiki disrupts transport

Hundreds of flights in Vietnam have been disrupted and several trains cancelled due to Typhoon Kajiki which is forecasted to hit the central region on Monday afternoon.

Three trains are cancelled due to Typhoon Kajiki on August 25.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) reported that on August 23, 225 flights were forced to change their routes. On August 24, 170 flights were rerouted, 35 cancelled and five diverted to alternative airports.

According to Vietnam Railways, the Hanoi–Vinh route was suspended on August 25, with train NA1 departing Hanoi at 9.50 pm and train NA2 departing Vinh at 9.30 pm cancelled. On the Hanoi–Ho Chi Minh City line, train SE9 scheduled to leave Hanoi at 12.50 pm was also halted.

Passengers holding tickets for the cancelled trains can obtain refunds at stations without fees within 30 days from the suspension date.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said Kajiki is expected to make landfall in Ha Tinh and Nghe An provinces between 3 pm and 4 pm on August 25.
