The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) held a get-together for former leaders and staff from central Viet Nam, all of whom are veterans of the American War, in Da Nang on April 29.
Speaking at the meeting before the former leaders, reporters and technicians, VNA Deputy General Director Ha Minh Hue highlighted the contributions made by the VNA in general and its staff in the central region in particular to the 1975 Spring Victory.
He expressed his gratitude to the war correspondents and the families of fallen journalists, all of whom had written a glorious chapter in the VNA's history.
Following the steps of the previous generations of journalists, who laid down a firm foundation for the news agency's development over the past 65 years, the current VNA staff were determined to build the agency into a powerful communications group, he added.
The participants, including Vo The Ai, one of the first VNA reporters present at battlefields, and Nguyen Dinh Thuyen, former head of the Tri Thien-Hue bureau, shared their unforgettable stories and memories from the war.
As many as 29 VNA reporters and technicians in the central region laid down their lives for the cause of national liberation.
On the same day, a delegation of VNA leaders and staff visited the memorial to fallen VNA comrades, located at the Zone 5 Revolutionary Base in Song Tra Commune, Hiep Duc District, Quang Nam Province.
