Truong Sa soldiers to get train fare discount from July 1

Soldiers serving in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands will receive a 30 per cent discount on train fares from July 1 under a new support programme.

The programme was introduced under an agreement between Naval Region 4 Command, the Vietnam Railway Authority and Vietnam Railways Corporation.

Eligible soldiers will receive a 30 per cent discount on regular fares when travelling on passenger trains operated by railway transport companies.

The discount applies to holders of a valid Truong Sa Soldier Certificate issued by Naval Region 4 Command.

Passengers must present both a valid identification document and the certificate when purchasing tickets and during travel.

Discounted tickets will initially be available only at railway stations nationwide and will not be offered through online booking platforms or ticket agents.

The railway sector said the programme was designed to recognise and support soldiers serving on Vietnam's remote islands.
