A lawyer has asked to represent Nguyen Hao Anh, who was horrifically tortured by his boss when his case goes to trial.
Lawyer Nguyen Thi Hong Lien, Head of the Law Office of Nguyen Thi Hong Lien and Lawyer Group of Ho Chi Minh City will not charge Hao Anh any fee. His family has agreed to the proposal.
Doan Quoc Khoi, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dam Doi District, Ca Mau Province said that the investigation process is being carried out according to regulations. The district’s authority requested that police complete documents before May 10 to file the case in court.
On May 6, DTiNews went to Phu Hiep Hamlet to collect further information and found that Hao Anh’s case is a major concern for local people. Some people said that they reported Hao Anh's situation to local authorities but they failed to resolve the matter swiftly.
Regarding this feedback, Khoi confirmed, “Authorities are investigating and if any official disregarded this case, they will be punished appropriately.”
Doctor Nguyen Thanh Long, Deputy Director of Dam Doi General Hospital, said that Hao Anh had been moved to the Clinic of Ca Mau Province’s Police to continue his treatment.
According to Pham Thanh Son, Vice Manager of the Division of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Dam Doi District, Hao Anh has received donations valuing over VND58 million ($3,052) from various organisations and individuals.
