Chairman of Van Tho Commune People's Committee, Dang Thanh Hoa, announced on the morning of April 10 that local rescue forces had found two bodies yesterday and the last body was recovered this morning.
"The three victims aged between 16-17 belonged to a group of six friends who went for a swim at the beach at 4 pm on April 9," the official said. "They were washed away by the high strong waves. Three others managed to swim back to shore and called for help."
Rescue forces found two bodies some 200 metres from the shore at 7 pm the same day.
Local people said that high waves that caused whirlpools have affected the locality over the past two days.
