Speaking to Dantri reporters, a local Tam Dao official said the accident occurred at around 9.50am. A 35-seat passenger bus carrying 17 people overturned onto the lower side of the road while descending a steep slope. The windshield and several windows were shattered, and approximately 20 metres of roadside barriers were destroyed.

"As of 11am, three passengers had been confirmed dead, and 14 others were injured. Rescue teams are actively working at the scene. Many passengers have been taken to hospital in a state of panic," the official said.

Emergency services, including five ambulances and several rescue vehicles, were dispatched to the site as efforts continue to assist victims and clear the wreckage.

Tam Dao, a mountain range straddling Vinh Phuc and Thai Nguyen provinces, is renowned for its cool climate, waterfalls, and streams, making it a popular tourist destination. However, the winding and steep roads leading up to Tam Dao pose significant risks for drivers, particularly on sharp descents.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
