Three Chinese suspects arrested for safe theft in Haiphong

Haiphong Police arrested three Chinese suspects who broke into a Vinhomes Imperial urban area property, stealing cash, gold, and foreign currency.

Haiphong City People's Procuracy announced that Hong Bang Ward Police recently received a report from a 58-year-old man residing on Mahattan Street, Vinhomes Imperial Urban Area, Hong Bang Ward, Haiphong City regarding a break-in at his home. Intruders reportedly forced open a door and stole a significant amount of cash, gold, and foreign currency from a safe.

Hong Bang Ward Police, in coordination with the Haiphong City Police Criminal Investigation Department and Area 3 People's Procuracy, conducted a scene examination, collected evidence, and deployed multiple reconnaissance teams to track the suspects' movements.

By January 27, investigators identified three Chinese nationals, Li Guangyuan, Bai Xianzeng, and Song Shiyong, as the perpetrators. They had entered Vietnam via the Mong Cai International Border Gate. Anticipating the suspects might attempt to leave the country with the stolen assets, Haiphong City Police requested border forces to temporarily suspend their exit and assist in their apprehension.

On the afternoon of the same day, as the three suspects prepared to depart, authorities arrested them, seizing a large quantity of cash, gold, and foreign currency. They were then transferred to Haiphong City Police for further investigation.

According to police, there has been a recent trend of criminals targeting large urban areas, where residents may be complacent due to perceived strong security systems. This incident serves as a warning for residents to heighten their vigilance against theft, particularly during the lead-up to the Lunar New Year Festival.
