Tet air travel demand forecasted to rise 12% on-year

Air travel demand has been forecasted to grow by 12% on-year to 12 million passengers for the coming Tet, the Lunar New Year.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), local airports are expected to serve up to 73,000 flights for Tet, or 2,350 flights a day.

Of the figure, Tan Son Nhat Airport would account for 4 million passengers and 30,000 flights, up 11% on-year.

The CAAV added to date, around 40-50% of the Tet air tickets have been sold.

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will transport apricot and peach blossoms for on domestic flights from January 9 to February 8. The transportation fees is VND450,000 (USD19.56), including VAT.

A passenger will be allowed to check in with 1-2 branches of apricot or peach blossoms, measuring maximum 150 x 40 x 40 as Luggage Consignment Service.

Passengers must register to transport apricot and peach blossoms at least 3 hours before departure time.

Local airports served almost 10 million passengers during Tet 2019.
