Ten rare white pheasants released into Cuc Phuong National Park

Five pairs of rare white pheasants were released into Cuc Phuong National Park in the northern province of Ninh Binh in response to the International Day of Forests (March 21/3).

A group of tourists from Hanoi teamed up with Cuc Phuong National Park rangers to take part in the hands-on release of the white pheasants back into the forest.

A Cuc Phuong National Park representative said the released white pheasants had been rescued, rehabilitated, and bred at the park’s Centre for Rescue, Conservation, and Species Development.

Having met all release requirements, the pheasants were reintroduced into their natural habitat to support their reintegration and would contribute to reviving this endangered species.

Nguyen Thuy Duong, a tourist from Hanoi, expressed hope that more activities would be organised to protect forest ecosystems and raise public awareness of wildlife conservation.

The rare white pheasant is listed as a Group IB species, which includes critically endangered animals strictly protected by law in Vietnam.
