Vietnam is set to experience widespread rains as a storm has been forecasted to enter the East Sea in the days to come.

Vietnam is set to experience widespread rains as a storm has been forecasted to enter the East Sea in the days to come.

A tropical depression in the East Sea would turn into a storm when it reaches the central coastal region of Vietnam, ranging from Quang Binh to Thua Thien-Hue provinces.

On Thursday evening, the eye of the storm would be to the south of the Gulf of Tonkin with strong winds.

The storm has been predicted to cause torrential rains for central localities from Wednesday and then spread to northern localities.

Vu Anh Tuan from the Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the rainfall from Quang Tri to Quang Nam would be 80-200mm.

Tuan also warned of flooding and landslides in mountainous areas due to rains which would last until October 21.
