According to the department's report, the 38-year-old woman residing in the northern Tuyen Quang Province travelled to Dubai from September 29 to October 18 on a holiday. She started showing symptoms including high temperatures, muscle aches, a headache, coughs, and itchy bumps from October 11.
Before having such symptoms, the woman had stayed in the same house as the first monkeypox patient during their time in Dubai. After hearing about her friend's symptoms, the first patient informed HCM City's Centre for Disease Control about her arrival for quarantine and treatment.
Upon arriving at Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat Airport on October 18, the woman underwent a test and the result came back positive for the monkeypox virus. Later genome sequencing by Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases on October 19 also confirmed the test result.
The woman has been isolated and treated at Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Tropical Diseases.
