Four people were killed on Friday morning after a section of the Ba River embankment collapsed in Dak Lak Province.

Four people die after a section of the Ba River embankment collapses on January 2.

According to local authorities in Dak Lak, the incident occurred at about 9 am on January 2, when four people were seeking shelter from the rain under the Ba River embankment in Son Thanh Commune. 

The embankment section, which had been damaged by earlier flooding, suddenly gave way and collapsed onto four people, killing them at the scene.

The victims were identified as Bui Xuan Van and his wife Le Thi Thi who were both 64 years old, and Do Xuan Huu, 62, and his 58-year-old wife Nguyen Thi Kim Linh.

Police and other relevant forces have been deployed to the site and are investigating the cause of the collapse.
