
Police in Bao Lam 1 Commune said they received the pangolin from Doan Hong Hai, 49, who found it in Loc Quang Hamlet and kept it safe before notifying authorities.
The animal, measuring 52 centimetres and weighing about 5 kilogrammes, was reported to be in good health.
After completing the required procedures, police transferred the pangolin to relevant agencies for release back into the wild in line with regulations.
The Sunda pangolin is classified in Group IB of Vietnam’s Red Book and is subject to strict protection. Hunting, capturing, transporting or trading the species is prohibited and may lead to criminal prosecution.
