According to police in Dong Ha Ward, they had received the animal from a resident and coordinated with local authorities ensure its care.
Earlier, Pham Xuan Hoan, born in 1996 and living in Dong Ha Ward, saw the pangolin while travelling along Dien Bien Phu Street. Aware that pangolins are listed as endangered and prioritised for protection in Vietnam, he voluntarily brought the animal to the police.
Authorities later transferred the pangolin to a specialised unit for monitoring and rehabilitation before releasing it back into its natural habitat when conditions permit.
