Quang Nam to waive school fees for thousands of children

Over 40,000 children living in outbreak areas in Quang Nam Province will have their tuition fees waived for the first semester.

Quang Nam to waive school fees for thousands of children

Quang Nam People's Council has approved waiving the tuition fees on September 29. The move will cost VND14bn (USD612,500).

The students include those who live in Hoi An and Dien Ban Town which are under strict social distancing rules and those who had left Hoi An and Dien Ban to return to their home provinces.

Dien Ban Town has 26,656 students and Hoi An has 13,923 students. There are also 772 students who returned to their home provinces.

Phan Viet Cuong, chairman of Quang Nam People's Council hoped that the plan would help share some burdens with the parents and students as everyone had been badly affected by the pandemic.
