PM Chinh congratulates Lord Buddha's 2567th birthday

The Government leader also attended the Vesak ceremony at Hanoi-based Quan Su Pagoda, headquarters of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, with the participation Most Venerable Thich Thanh Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Council, and Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Chairman of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha along others.

The Lord Buddha's 2567th birthday, solar calendar 2023, solemnly held by the Vietnamese Buddhist Church at Quan Su Pagoda which witnessed numerous important activities of Vietnamese Buddhism. This is a very significant religious event in the spiritual and religious life of the Buddhist compatriots, and is a viewed as a world cultural and religious festival recognized by the United Nations General Assembly.

On behalf of Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front leaders, PM Chinh wished monks, nuns, and Buddhist compatriots at home and abroad good health to serve the Fatherland, protect the peace.

In any period of history, Buddhism has also made worthy contributions to the cause of national construction and defence, Chinh said, adding that the Party and State highly appreciate the active participation and material and spiritual contributions of Buddhism in the COVID-19 containment efforts, thus contributing to economic recovery and development.

With the successful organization of the United Nations Day of Vesak Day for 3 times, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has made an important contribution to the development of world Buddhism and enhanced the position and role of Vietnamese Buddhism and its image as well as the country and people of Vietnam in the eyes of international friends.

The Vietnamese Government chief acknowledged, highly appreciated and gratefully thanked the great contributions of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, monks and nuns, and Buddhists at home and abroad to the country in recent years.

He also highlighted 2023 as an important year for the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the first year of carrying out Buddhist activities specified in the Resolution adopted by the 9th Congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha for 2022 -2027 term.

On behalf of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon thanked Party and State leaders for congratulating Buddha's birthday and wished to continue receiving their support and attention given to the Buddhist community in the future.
