Petrol prices drop to lowest level in nearly four years

The Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Industry and Trade announced a significant cut in retail fuel prices, effective from 3 pm on Thursday.

According to the latest adjustment, the price of E5 RON 92 petrol has been reduced by VND1,490 per litre, while RON 95 petrol has dropped by VND1,710 per litre. After the cut, the maximum retail prices are VND18,880 per litre for E5 RON 92 and VND19,200 per litre for RON 95.

Diesel and other oil products also saw downward adjustments. Diesel now sells for VND17,240 per litre, down VND1,230; kerosene is priced at VND17,410 per litre, a VND1,320 decrease; and mazut oil dropped VND1,120 to VND15,900 per kilo. The Price Stabilisation Fund remains inactive, with no funds deducted or disbursed in this adjustment period.

This marks a notable turnaround for RON 95 petrol, which had previously recorded three consecutive price hikes. The current rate is now at its lowest since May 2021, nearly a four-year low. Since the beginning of 2025, RON 95 petrol has undergone eight increases and seven decreases. Meanwhile, diesel prices have seen seven rises, seven drops, and one period of no change.
