Police have detained two suspected-owners of 92 kilograms of smuggled gold for questioning.

Police have detained two suspected-owners of 92 kilograms of smuggled gold for questioning, according to Nguyen Van Nen, Chief Policeman of Chau Thanh District.

In the evening of February 4, police in Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province stopped a suspicious vehicle and discovered about 92 kilograms of gold. All four people arrested have confessed that they were hired by two people living in An Giang to carry the gold from An Giang to Ho Chi Minh City.

Initial details revealed that the owners are Nguyen Thi Tuyet Van, born in 1971 and Nguyen Ngoc Luan, born in 1958. Both are living at Chau Doc Commune in An Giang.

Apparently, Van has said she owns only 30 kilograms of the confiscated 92 kilograms of gold, and that she hired two men to deliver it to a trader in Ho Chi Minh City. The remaining gold belongs to Luan who also hired two men to deliver his gold.

Both Van and Luan confessed that their traders are living at District 5, Ho Chi Minh City.

According to Nen, this case is complicated and requires further investigation.
