Nguyen Thi Tru , a 121-year-old from HCM City, is the oldest living person on record in Vietnam, according to the Vietnam Records Organisation.
Nguyen Thi Tru turned 121 in May 2014.
Tru was first recognised as the oldest person in the country in 2011. She has 11 children, only four of which are still living. She now lives with the family of her youngest son.
According to the Guinness World Records, the oldest living woman in the world is currently Misao Okawa from Japan, who is reportedly 116 years old.
The Vietnam Records Organisation plans to ask the the Guinness World Records to recognise Tru as the oldest living woman in the world.
The organisation also plans to announce the oldest living man, the oldest married couple and the oldest twins in Vietnam in the near future.
Tru has shared her secrets to staying healthy, which include keeping a good diet, staying optimistic and helping other people to feel relaxed and happy.
