Tropical storms and tropical depressions in the East Sea are forecast to remain near the long-term average, with around one system expected to make landfall in Vietnam during the month.
Heavy rainfall is expected mainly in northern Vietnam and the north-central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh, while the Central Highlands and southern regions are likely to see frequent afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.
Rainfall nationwide is forecast to remain close tfo average levels, although northern Vietnam and the Thanh Hoa-Ha Tinh area could receive 15-30 per cent more rain than usual.
Forecasters also warned of thunderstorms, whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong winds, as well as rough seas caused by the southwest monsoon and tropical systems, posing risks to shipping.
Authorities urged local governments and residents to closely monitor weather forecasts and warnings to minimise disruption to daily life and production.
