Ninh Binh closes 42 schools due to Covid-19

The northern province of Ninh Binh has temporarily shut 42 schools after up to 300 Covid-19 cases were found.

The northern province of Ninh Binh has temporarily shut 42 schools after up to 300 Covid-19 cases were found.

According to the Department of Ninh Binh Education and Training, the province has been facing a sharp rise in Covid-19 infections, including outbreaks at schools.

Around 300 local teachers and students at 42 schools have tested positive for Covid-19. The cases were found at different school levels from nursery to high schools.

The biggest outbreak was reported at Kim Dong Primary School in Kim Son District with nearly 100 cases.

Nine Covid-19 patients were also found at Ly Tu Trong Primary School on January 5.

The schools which confirmed infections have been asked to suspend on-site classes and offer online studying for their students.

Some 867 Covid-19 patients are currently being treated in Ninh Binh.
