Nha Trang authorities recall encroached land from Nha Trang Sao tourism project
According to a report from local authorities, Nha Trang Sao Company encroached 23,000 square metres of Nha Trang Bay. The firm was fined VND200m for the violation and was asked to restore the site. The forced removal was carried out after Nha Trang Sao Company failed to follow the orders. The land will be recalled and transferred to Khanh Hoa Land Fund Development Centre.
The USD33m Nha Trang Sao Project was granted the investment certificate on March 9, 2012. It covered 103,568 square metres including 44,152 square metres of land and 59,416 square metres of surface water.
However, during the construction, the company was found to have encroached upon Nha Trang Bay. The company also failed to complete and submit the adjusted architectural plan to the Department of Construction. On January 19, 2018, the Department of Planning and Investment ordered to shut down the project. On January 19, 2019, Khanh Hoa People's Committee issued an official order to recall the encroached land.
The forced removal will be carried out on March 24 and 25. The land will then be used for park and public spaces.
