Ho Thi Nhi, 32, called for support for her husband Nguyen Duy Ky who was seriously injured in an explosion at a mechanic on April 2.
The explosion killed two people and injured four including Ky who lost his left leg.
"My husband has undergone an operation to remove his left leg," Nhi said. "His right leg and right arm are also badly hurt. Now I have to ask my elderly mother to help look after our three small children at home while I take care of him at the hospital."
The poor woman said that her husband used to be a breadwinner of the family as she has been struggling with thyroid cancer over the past six years.
"Doctors said that my disease is not life-threatening but I need to take medicine for the rest of my life," she said. "We used to do odd jobs and earn a modest income to support our three children until the accident occurred."
Besides three children aged between 3-11, Nhi is now in the fifth month of pregnancy with their fourth child. She said she was very worried when doctors said that his treatment would last for a long time while the family has run out of money.
"We've incurred debts of nearly VND 200 million during my cancer treatment," she said. "And we've just had to borrow an additional VND 55 million for my hospitalised husband. We can’t find more money to continue the treatment for him. I really hope to receive support from the community to save my husband."
