Over the past month, caterpillars have damaged 750 hectares of pine forests in Nghi Loc District in Nghe An.

The caterpillars have damaged many pine trees in Nghe An Province
According to the local forest management board, the affected areas are concentrated in La Nham, Ru Tuan, Tuan Son and Cau Mo forests.
La Nham Forest has been hardest hit, with 350-400 caterpillars on each pine tree. In Ru Tuan, Tung Son and Cua Mo forests, each pine tree has between 15-200 caterpillars.

The insects have severely damaged pine trees forests in Nghi Loc.
The district’s forest management board has administered pesticides for 150 hectares of local forest. The unit has also prepared lights and other equipment to trap and catch caterpillars.
Tran Van Truong, deputy head of the board, said that the caterpillar infestation was caused by recent unfavourable fog and high humidity.
