Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh has asked the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and localities to closely follow natural disasters to have suitable solutions. Thanh cited the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting as saying around 8-10 storms would occur on the East Sea by the year-end, including 3-5 to directly affect Vietnam.

Most storms would ravage Vietnam between October and November.

Rainfall in the northern, central and Central Highlands regions from now to the year-end would be higher than that of many previous years, bringing about landslides, inundation and flash floods.
