Vietnam's National Day holiday will last four days this year, starting August 31.
During this time, return airfares on the Hanoi-HCM City route range from VND3.3 (USD132.53) to VND4.7 million (USD188.75), up 14 percent compared to a week earlier.
Meanwhile, return tickets on Hanoi-Nha Trang flights are around VND4.7-6.2 million, up 27 percent against the previous week.
However, air tickets on the National Day holiday are cheaper than this year's Reunification Day, April 30, and May Day holidays.
Between August 30 and September 3, Vietnamese airlines will conduct 4,257 flights, up three percent from the week before and 3.5 percent from last year.
Airlines will concentrate on flights linking tourist destinations such as Hanoi, Danang, HCM City, Vinh, Binh Dinh, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc. Flights connecting Hanoi, Danang, and HCM City will account for the highest frequency.
The national flag carrier has purchased one Airbus A320neo and one Boeing 787-10 to serve more passengers.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has asked the airlines to report on their increased flight frequency and the status of ticket sales, bookings and seat availability on domestic tourist destination routes during the National Day holiday period.
Passengers are advised to book their tickets early through the airlines' official channels when travelling by plane or consider booking flights that depart early or late in the day to have more options for lower fares.
