The list includes Atlantic Seafood, Basa Mekong, Co May 2 Seafood Processing JS Company and CKFood.
Six more Vietnamese companies have been allowed to export catfish to the US
To date, 19 companies in Vietnam have been licensed by the US’s Food Safety and Inspection Service to export catfish to the country.
In the first four months of this year, Vietnam’s catfish export value was estimated at USD950 million, up 94 percent on-year. China and the US were Vietnam’s biggest catfish importers during the period, accounting for 32 percent and 24.5 percent respectively of the country's total export value.
Specifically, Vietnam earned USD306 million from catfish export to China between January and April while the figure was USD232 million in the US.
"The demand for catfish from the US and EU has continued rising following the Russia - Ukraine War," the department said. "It is expected that these six companies will help boost catfish export to the US and EU markets in the coming time."
