In May and June, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) will work with relevant ministries, sectors and localities to carry out large-scale environmental investigations in industrial parks (IPs) nationwide.MONRE Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Duc made the announcement today in Hanoi.
In Q3, the Ministry will inspect the enforcement of the Law on Environmental Protection in basins of the Cau, Nhue-Day and Dong Nai Rivers.
It is essential for competent ministries, sectors and localities to reinforce coordination to timely disclose and punish any violation and ensure environment protection in industrial zones and river basins nationwide, said the Deputy Minister.
In addition, the MONRE will instruct localities to strengthen investigations in business and service facilities, industrial areas and craft villages.
It was reported that in 2009, Vietnamese environment police detected 4,545 violation cases, four times higher than the previous year.
Recently, the Government has adopted a new decree on environment protection which impose much stricter penalties against environmental offence.
