The inspection plan was made after recent public concerns raised over the serious overloading of inter-provincial coach travel, in addition to their careless driving.

The National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC)'s statistics showed that 80% serious road accidents were caused by private transport in the first six months of 2011.

The ministry recently carried out inspections of taxi operations in Hanoi and HCM City.

Despite the authorities in Hanoi suspending the operations of six taxi companies from September to November 2011, the ministry’s recent inspection indicated that the local taxi business environment continues to remain problematic due to poor management.

The ministry started the first stage of an inspection of taxi firms in Ho Chi Minh City on November 21.

Saigon Railway Station and District 3 Police Department discovered 55 forged train tickets during the run-up to the Tet.
