Transport minister Dinh La Thang has asked local authorities in Lai Chau Province to prosecute individuals and agencies responsible for the collapse of the suspension bridge in the area.

On March 6, Thang held a meeting with the investigation team in order to ask them to publicise its conclusions by March 10. At the meeting, the team's two possible causes were faulty design or bad construction work.
Thang also said he will ask the Ministry of Public Security and the authorities of Lai Chau Province to make a conclusion about the individuals responsibe in this case.
Thang said, "We owe the people of Chu Va 6 Village an explanation. Both the Prime Minister and the deputy Prime Minister are pushing to find the causes and punish those individuals and agencies responsible."
The leader of the police force in Lai Chau Province said they have not started prosecution of anyone in the case.
