Over the past two days, large numbers of dead fish have washed up along the banks of Truc Bach Lake in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh Ward. On the morning of September 11, Hanoi Drainage One Member Co., Ltd mobilised workers to collect and dispose of them.

The fish deaths may have resulted from recent shifts in weather conditions.
Fish die-offs in city lakes often occur from September to November. This time, the number of dead fish in Truc Bach Lake was not significant, with workers collecting about 200-300 kilogrammes for disposal.
Residents living and exercising around the lake reported that the fish deaths began on Wednesday morning, with a few scattered cases. However, by midday and afternoon, the numbers had surged, forming large clusters.
The dead fish included various species, ranging from tilapia and carp to larger fish weighing several kilograms.
