On January 9, a video circulated on social media showing an elephant calmly walking along a road in Tri An Commune, Dong Nai Province. At the time, a man riding a motorbike suddenly encountered the animal. Startled, he quickly abandoned the vehicle by the roadside and ran to safety.

The elephant continued on its way without attacking anyone or causing damage to property.
A local resident said this was not the first time elephants had appeared near the forest edge in the area. During periods of food scarcity, wild elephants often cross electric fences and move into residential zones.
An official from the Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve Forest Protection Unit said wild elephants have recently been appearing frequently along forest fringes and on several roads in Tri An Commune. Authorities have stepped up public information and warnings, advising people to remain cautious, avoid approaching elephants and prevent conflict to ensure the safety of both residents and vehicles.
