Authorities investigate the cause of the accident

On August 12, police in Lam Dong Province, in coordination with local authorities in Xuan Truong Ward, Dalat City, launched an investigation into a landslide that left two tourists dead.

According to initial reports, heavy rain lasting several hours in Xuan Truong that afternoon caused a hillside behind a café on Alley 108, Hung Vuong Street, to give way. Dozens of cubic metres of soil and rocks tumbled down, burying the two victims, both born in 2009, who died at the scene.

Authorities arrived promptly to cordon off the area and begin inquiries.

The collapsed hillside was around 20 metres long, and the debris struck while the victims were seated at the café.
