Police said the otter was seized while being illegally transported.
Veterinarians at Cuc Phuong National Park have carried out an initial health assessment and are providing close care to support the otter’s full recovery.
The small-clawed otter is recognised as an endangered and rare species, granted the highest level of legal protection in Vietnam.
All acts of hunting, captivity, trade, or illegal transport of this species are strictly prohibited and may be subject to criminal prosecution.
