From the night of October 15 to the morning of October 16, torrential rain ravaged many areas in Yen Bai, including Yen Bai City and Tran Yen, Yen Binh, and Van Yen districts.

On the morning of October 16, Luong Thinh Commune recorded 208mm of rainfall, while Viet Cuong Commune in Tran Yen District received 199mm. This caused flooding and landslides on several roads.

In Au Lau Commune, Yen Bai City, the water level of Ngoi Lau Stream surged sharply on Wednesday noon, forcing 38 households to relocate and isolating 115 others.

Many roads in Tran Yen District and Yen Bai City were seriously submerged, leading to traffic congestion. Notably, National Highway 37 experienced five landslides, disrupting traffic between Yen Bai City and Nghia Lo Town.

Meanwhile, 30 hectares of rice and crops in the Tran Yen and Van Yen districts have been affected.

In Yen Bai City, roughly 70 households prone to landslides have also been evacuated to ensure safety.

Earlier, Yen Bai was among the localities hardest hit by the aftermath of the Yagi typhoon, with dozens of people left dead and missing.
