Vu Minh Hoang, a resident in Song May Village, said that flooding had worsened since September 18. His house was flooded by one metre, the record high level so far.

Authorities of Bac Son Commune came to the submerged area in Song May Village to support local people.

The flooding has basically been put under control in Bac Son and affected households have been evacuated to safe places.

However, the situation has remained serious in Vinh Tan and Tan An, so local authorities have considered the household evacuation in necessary cases.

Since September 14, many southern localities have experienced heavy rains and the Central Highlands region.

Vo Tan Nhan, director of Tri An Hydropower Plant, in Vinh Cuu District said that the plant reservoir had sharply increased following heavy rains. So the plant had to discharge water. But to limit the flooding, the company would select the time when tides fall.

The rains in Dong Nai killed one man from An Giang Province who is working as a builder in the province. The victim was swept away by the flooding on the way to his workplace on September 19.
