HCM City will spend more than VND 179 billion (about USD 6.8 million) on cash gifts for vulnerable groups to mark the 50th anniversary of the city being named after President Ho Chi Minh.

The payments will be made once. People eligible under multiple VND 500,000 categories will receive a single payment, while poor or near-poor households with eligible members will receive both the individual payment and the household grant.

The programme will benefit more than 98,000 war contributors and their relatives, over 227,000 social welfare recipients and nearly 16,500 poor and near-poor households.
