The apartment building fire in Khuong Ha Street has killed 56 people on September 12.

Many online shops have reported huge firefighting equipment orders, meaning customers have to wait for deliveries.

Nguyen Nam, owner of a shop in Thanh Xuan District said that he received up to 10 calls for fire escape ladders, gas masks and fire extinguishers.

Fire extinguishers made in Japan, Singapore or Europe are 2-4 times more expensive than those from China.

Nam added that many orders are worth tens of millions of VND. At present, the store has only two types of 4-kilo fire extinguishers. One is in powder form and the other is gas. Each powder fire extinguisher is priced at around VND300,000, while the price for the gas type is some VND500,000. Both of them are made in Vietnam. The shop prioritises customers who come to pick up the products themselves.

Additionally, flame-resistant clothing and gas masks are selling very well. Two types of gas masks available in the market are single-filter and double-filter models, with prices ranging from VND90,000 to VND500,000 each.

Each four-member family often spends VND1.2-2 million on basic firefighting equipment.

Up to 56 people died and 37 were injured in a fire at an apartment block in Thanh Xuan District’s Khuong Ha Street on September 12.
