Under the plan, teams are inspecting mooncake producers and sellers, baking ingredients, food additives, packaging, children's toys and other festival goods.
On August 25, Market Surveillance Team No. 9 inspected a business in Thu Lam Commune and found 871 children's toys without labels, conformity certification, invoices or documents proving their origin.
The goods, valued at over VND 24 million (USD 913), were seized. On August 27, the business owner was fined VND 16 million for trading goods of unknown origin and failing to register a household business as required.
Authorities also ordered the destruction of all the seized goods and required the owner to register the business.
Meanwhile, Market Surveillance Team No. 2 had inspected and handled eight cases by August 27, with fines and confiscated goods worth over VND 102 million.
Administrative fines totalled VND 47 million, while goods worth VND 55 million were ordered destroyed, including 579 children's toys and 871 confectionery and mooncake products.
The inspections aim to prevent counterfeit, smuggled, untraceable and substandard goods from reaching consumers and ensure food safety during the festival.
Hanoi's Mid-Autumn Festival inspection campaign will run until September 30, with teams continuing to target goods in high demand.
Inspections will focus on mooncakes, baking ingredients, food additives and children's toys, checking their origin, quality, food safety, labelling, conformity declarations and compliance with pricing regulations.
Market surveillance authorities will also work with other agencies to trace the origin of goods and take action against counterfeit, smuggled, untraceable or substandard products.
