Many people in Hanoi queue up overnight in front of overloaded local car registration centres on March 5.
On Sunday afternoon, lines of cars clogged streets in front of the Vehicle Registration Centre 2903V in Cau Giay District. People waited overnight to have their cars registered on the following day.
The lines were hundreds of metres long, affecting traffic in the area. Many vehicles need urgent registration or they would be unroadworthy.
A driver said that he had to queue from mid-Sunday, but still had to wait. The long queues of cars occupied a bus stop in Cau Giay District.
At 7 pm on Sunday, vehicles were put in two long lines in front of Vehicle Registration Centre 2903V in Cau Giay District.
Hanoi has 31 vehicle registration centres, however, 21 have been suspended following a range of arrests that have occurred in the vehicle registration sector as part of an investigation into fraud and bribery at centres nationwide.
